Culzean Castle SW Scotland

Hi all, just thought I’d share pictures of south west scotland from a trip last summer with the family..
It features the fabulous walled garden in the National Trust’s Culzean Castle in Maidens ..The two little cheeky monkeys sitting in the window are my boys, we all had a great day out which ended in tea and cake at the cafe :)

Yes we did electric brae as well as a great day at maidens beach. We used to live here 20 years ago and husbands
parents still do so we get to visit the area often..

I'm just along the road in Glasgow, we visited Kelburn Castle last weekend which is not far from Culzean (Largs) absolutely great for kids! If you haven't visited I would add it to the list for your next visit to Ayrshire x

We went for the first time this Easter and loved it, the castlev had only just opened for the season and looked immaculate, the staff were fruendly and helpful, even the gasrdeners were chatty explaining what they were sowing. I've the archway picture and one od the renovated cammelia houseand the vine house rebuilt exactly as before from only some old photo,s and an unearthed 'footprint'.
Brilliant place thanks for reminding me and showing what its like in the summer

Pam the wall garden was amazing in the summer. I bought a yellow day lily from there to remind me, it's the fourth picture down... I really hope it flowers this year...
Hywel it was definitely worth a visit if you venture north of the border...

The garden is inbetween the black loch and the white loch, theres the lily pond and 'walks' like the azalea walk and araucaria....monkey puzzle ....and one sad one, the cordyline walk had been decimated last year by the unusually severe frosrs, some were regrowing from the bases but would take years to reach the original height....and as I said cakes cooked fresh....

Right it's a definite then, shame about the cordylines, but ound lovely. And cakes make the perfect ;)
