Explorers Pitlochry

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Scotland
On the next to last day we visited Explorers garden in Pitlochry which tells the stories of Scottish Plant Hunters who risked their lives travelling the globe in search of new plants and trees for cultivation, commerce and conservation.
The weather all the time when we were away was sunny and very warm.
I hope you enjoy a selection of plants etc especially my favourites the Blue and white Meconopsis – Himalayan Poppy.

What a marvellous theme for a garden! What a dedicated bunch of men those explorers were -its nice to know they are honoured in this way. Imagine being the first person to come across those poppies!

It's lovely and colourful but doesn't it look lush and green?
I've always loved the blue Meconopsis but wow, the white one's are spectacular too!!

Thanks for sharing your pictures Marjories, there are some beautiful flowers there. Sometime ago I was given a packet of seeds for the Himalayan Blue Poppy and I was quite thrilled until I read the instructions on how to grow them...very complicated. Needless to say I didn't grow them.
