Start to prepare for the shows
2 comments
This week i need to start to check through all my plants and sort out which will be likely to be ready for the Shrewsbury Flower show, and which might make a later show. The rest can then go outside, in the shade to make some more room. Then i will have the job of measuring the buds on all the plants that might make the show, any buds that are too big will need to be removed as they will be over the top by Show day. As i go through the plants i will need to tie the plants to the canes in the pots, and put some ant powder on the compost in the pots to stop ear wigs climbing up the plant and messing in the blooms.
I always look forward to the Shrewsbury show as that is the biggest show that i enter and it is the first, followed by one each week for a few weeks – Shrewsbury, Minsterley, Pontesbury, Hanwood & Cruckton and this year i plan to enter a show held at Roden garden centre. Last year i entered a show at Percy Throwers Gareden centre, but that one is not on this year!
I do plan on taking a few more pictures this year, and hope to put them on the Growsonyou site!
