Dec 19th update on my "paperwhite" experiment!

The two paperwhites are growing well and the one in the organic potting soil that spawned a new baby bloom is really showing off! The “baby bloom” has now reached the size of the first main bloom and the health of the plant’s leaves is looking fabulous! Here is tonight’s updated photo:
’Tis the season and the dining room table is nuked with plants and paperwork from online present ordering! Even little “Mystic” was relaxing on the table tonight! (yellow arrow) He seems to like the smell of the paperwhites and often flops on the table next to them. The paperwhite in the foreground is the one growing in lavasand and it is also looking great!
I have noticed that the paperwhite bulbs do not develop a very large root system and this brings possibilities of “clustering bulbs” in pots or the native soil for a really great “floral show”. The two “test bulbs” were only 75 cents a piece, so a “mass planting” into a pot of organic potting soil might yield quite a show over the winter. If this works, some “clustering” of bulbs might look pretty cool in my main flowerbed next summer. :-)
