I have my 2nd fridge, freezer (only small ones in the kitchen) and my tumbler in my garage and I have a drain that dips just before I open the garage so I nearly break my neck in the dark so it will light that up. Laughing about you not being able to see your dog in the dark sorry:) Yes looking forward to seeing the garden in night light:)

It is a B&Q value range security floodlight £8.00 but if it lights up the garden I will be very pleased:) By the way we seem to have a cat doing it's business in our garden does anyone have any good tips on how to stop them coming into the garden?? Heard there is a plant I can put in the garden that puts them off?

Mine should go up at the weekend Cazcat so I will let you know how effective it is:) Good idea Lulu sure other half will like the water pistol theory as boys will be boys lol! Work has stopped on my second mosaic as I am waiting for some tiles to arrive and some mosaic tweezers perhaps they will arrive today cannot wait to get going on it:) Also been sourcing slate roof tiles as I want to do some outside mosaics that I can hang up waiting for a reply today as the company I found may only sell them in bulk.

Are there any slate mines in Dorset. You can fill your car boot up with as much as you need for 20 quid!!
22 Sep, 2011
Hi Lulu not sure will investigate that today thanks:)

we had devon rustic slate to make a garden wall ~ perhaps you could get some of that nana??

We have a light to shine down our garden as well, flatcoat retriever and choc/lab soon disappear in the dark, lol.
I have lights on my pond and around the patio, apart from testing they have not been switched on this summer as it hasn`t been warm enough to sit outside after dark, gardens do take on a completely different look with strategically placed lights though and one can create lovely areas.......

Hi Sticki no luck with slate mines/quarries in my area will try the reclamation yards found a place that will sell me samples for £5.00 for a 24 x 12 inc postage and packing but maybe I could pick some up second hand for a couple of pounds? Hi Linclass can count on one hand how many times we have sat out in the evening this year and to be honest not for very long and with jumpers! Yes looking forward to my light being put up:)

£5 with postage doesnt sound bad, how about garden centres, sometimes they have slate ~ for paving etc, thats where my piece came from ~ i had a bit left over from the front door step

Hi Sticki that's what I thought have ordered one but will also have a look at the reclamation yard they might have some odd shapes cheap. Not seen any at the GC round by me but will be keeping my eyes peeled from now on lol:)

I love lights in the garden and also for security.
Ours come on in the dark and off when it is light[night sensor] which is great as even if we are out there is a nice welcoming light on when we get home :o))
the heucheras which are near one of the lights look really nice with it shining on them.

We've got one up in the back and I find it really handy. We've got an old garage which we use as a shed and apart from loads of junk, I keep my tumble drier and freezer in there. When it's dark and I'm going into the shed, I find it really handy putting the big floodlight on so I don't stand on the frogs (for some reason they're always on the patio at night). We put it up originally years ago, so we could see where our dog was in the dark (he was black and tan so you couldn't see him in the dark). The garden always looks lovely lit up in the dark.
