Garden Gazing

I finally managed to see my garden during sunlight at the weekend. It has been dark when I go to work and dark when I arrive back so I haven’t been able to plan anything. I stood there for several minutes looking at the borders trying to picture what they would be like in spring and summer. I haven’t had chance to plant the shrubs I bought earlier in the year. To be honest I am spoilt for choice as to where I should put them because the borders are so empty at the moment. I also bought some Astrantia ‘Roma’ and Lily of the Valley. Has anyone grown these before?
Enjoying being part of GOY. :o)

Greetings Nov,
My colleague has the same darkness problem right now, tho not a gardener, bcos she has to start at 8 and finishes at 4. At least my 9ish to 3.ish leaves me a teensy bit of leeway.
Just think of New Labour grooving embarrassingly to that tune "Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings can only get betteeeeeeeeeeeeeer, can only get betteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer"!!!!
We're the right side of the winter solstice.

Thanks, Spritzhenry. I haven't planted them yet so I will definitely take your advice.

Down here, there's still some light left at about 4.55 pm, so the evenings are slowly but surely getting lighter! :-)

Yes, indeed. Both lovely! I hope you can get your Lily-of-the-Valley to like your garden - then it spreads! It needs shade and moist soil. Astrantias prefer damp soil, too, but in sun or partial shade.
I am so glad you are enjoying the site - I find it so helpful when there's something I'm unsure about, as well as browsing great photos and having a laugh.
