waiting for the new containers to arrive..

i have decided on my new design for the courtyard..luckily for me there was a sale of the same style containers i showed in my latest courtyard pics..i bought 2 large and 3 smaller but taller ones, saved $150..Patrick will pick them up for me sometime this week..he has a truck, great for hauling “stuff”..if the store delivered them, it would cost me $80..i’d much rather buy Patrick a nice supper..he won’t accept any money from me..i’m hoping with this new design to have one of those lovely round herb gardens, filled mostly with mosquito repelling plants..i keep thinking of the courtyard and have discovered it’s a terrific way to beat the dreaded restless leg syndrome..it’s wonderful how healing a garden is, even when you’re just thinking about it..i’ll post pics when i have the containers arranged, even though they won’t be planted up yet..i couldn’t pass up that sale!

I agree with you about a garden healing it helps me a lot when I am stressed.
The restless leg syndrome use to be a great bother to me until my Dr suggested Iron tablets as I was slightly anaemic which seems to cause restless legs.
The treatment worked I took one a day to start with and now only need one every other day. I have tried to stop taking them but the restless legs comes back very quickly.

A herb garden sounds good. I like the round design. Your new containers will look nice planted up :)

thanks, Hywel..this is a new area for me..i went to a meeting of the herb society on Monday, and won a lovely little strawberry mint..smells heavenly...i like the mints, and am not worried about them taking over everything, since they will go into containers..it's exciting , starting over again...can't wait to see how the courtyard turns out..

I have delicious spearmint taking over my stream bed..will I add that to the lilac cuttings? It's very mild and aromatic and it makes a killer iced tea. I'm just about to harvest it..we're to get some serious heat and I don't want it to bolt to seed. (The blossoms are beautiful, and it will self seed, but root cuttings are the way to have it establish quickly.) It likes lots of water.

hi Lori..that would be great! now that i have my new watering system, i don't have any problem with thirsty plants..just the opposite, in fact..thanks for thinking of me..did you find my address? could you let me know when you mail them? my mail goes into one of those stands along with about 50 other boxes,...it's metal, and sits in full sun, so i will check it carefully after you've sent them..something i don't normally do since i only get bills and flyers these days...

I also like mints. I have a few different types. Last one I bought was called Tashkent mint (Mentha spikata) It has a lovely smell.

I don't know if I should parcel it up this coming week or wait until the weather is cooler. 43 degrees over the next four days as mid-day highs, with 20 degrees as overnight lows. I will send you a private message when they're in the mail, but it may not be for another week yet. That way you don't have to haunt the mailbox until there's a chance it's going to be there!

good idea to wait Lori..i was in the courtyard for no more than 30 minutes, had to get back inside, it was so hot, i started to get short of breath, and i don't normally have breathing probs..we have so much air pollution here..i couldn't stay out there very long...
