Day Lillies in Whiteswood Cottage Garden

The weather has turned quite dull today – watered last night and finished it this morning, big job getting around it all. Having done all the housework and managed to get through the ironing pile (which I hate) I decided to take some pictures of some of the day lillies in the garden. Some have been pictured before, some are named some are not. I would really appreciate any names for the ones which are not known please.
Admirals Braid
Crimson Pirate
Unknown Day Lily
Unknown Day Lily now named by Nariz many thanks ‘Kwanso Flore Pleno’
Unknown Day Lily
Sammy Russell
Unknown Day Lily
There are a few more in the borders but they have now finished flowering and I will have to wait for pictures until next year. Any help with names would be really appreciated. Thank you.

They are beautiful Barbara, I have 2 of them, Crimson Pirate and the orange lily, but yours seems lighter than mine.:))

think they are the same one though Michaella, looked at yours the other day. Crimson Pirate is a new one this year to me. Have I got it correct - they do not grow very tall - knowing me I shall have got it wrong. lol.

Thank you Sticki I am getting more and more addicted to them.

I'm not surprised. I used to have some yellow ones at my previous house but this garden seems shadier so I haven't got them, now I'm tempted to have a try?!

thank you pleased you like them Lincslass
Think if they get some sunshine they will manage with a little shade Sticki, you can only try, remember nothing ventured nothing gained. Try one and see how it goes.

Did the one I sent you not flower Mum? The double one? These are all nice, but the one you sent me is the nicest I think!

The one with the dark middle is the one you sent me Karen, I like it it is a lovely lemon colour, third picture down. Not a double though, well not this time, maybe it will alter.

Oh yes! I remember now....funny that eh? All the flowers on it last year were doubles.....hopefully next year then, as I'm sure it wasn't a double for me the first year! Wonder if kathy's is single too!

I think the orange Hemerocallis (4th picture) may be 'Kwanzo' as I have this in my garden.

Thanks Nariz will look at that one in a moment. I did go on Crocus website yesterday to see if I could name any of them from their pictures, the one you think might be Kwanzo they had one looked the same but they called it 'Flore Pleno'. Off to google Kwanzo now. thanks.

Well done Nariz, Googled this and it does say 'Kwanso Flore Pleno' so you are correct, sorry no prizes today just for fun thank you for taking part as they say on the bbc.
I have had this one for a number of years and never known its name that is so good to be able to name it thank you again.

Nariz have now updated the blog and credited you with your identification skill. thanks again.

Thanks Oliveoil, I saw and admired a Daylily in someones front garden last year and almost knocked on their front door - but I'm shy!
Now I know it was definitely 'Sammy Russell'. What a cracker!! :-)

Do these get lily beetle?
14 Jul, 2011
Not that I have seen Sticki, but the get gall some of them have had it this year, but most are ok.
14 Jul, 2011
Not exactly an 'identification skill' Olive. More the fact that a GoYer sent me the fans of dug up Hemerocallis all neatly and efficiently labelled! ;o)
14 Jul, 2011
lol, you still had to remember it Nariz, my memory is not that good.
14 Jul, 2011
Glad they dont get the beetle, thanks oliveoil
