Hi. I’d like you to know that the Butterfly Conservation Society is conducting a survey on sightings in the U.K. of Painted Lady butterflies and Humming-bird Hawk moths. If any of you have seen one or many of either, please go to their website….www.butterfly-conservation.org/migrantwatch….they just need to know quantity seen, when and where they were seen. It takes about two minutes. The photo is of a Painted Lady.

You may see more this year. They've been seen recently as far North as Edinburgh....usually only in Southern England & sometimes the Midlands.

I shall keep a look out this year for both, they came over in a large cloud last year 2009 and people I know were tracking them and reporting which areas they were seen they came up from Africa( painted ladies.)

I didn't see any Humming-Bird Hawk Moths.....wish I had. Maybe this year. Don't forget the RSPB garden watch at the end of the month.
