Thanks Suey, I do get a lot of rain down through the decking on the balcony, yet the cellar isn't damp at all inside..........it looks very gloomy under there
And I have thought of painting it with a water proof white paint to brighten it up, yet that would not go with the rest of the house's brick work.

Thanks Terratoonie, Put like that it doesn't seem as daunting. I'm certainly a lot better than I was a month ago thanks you :0)

Some of my garden areas need more work, but my dogs' health has had to take priority since last October.... We'll catch up with these garden tasks eventually. Lol... ... :o)

I'm sorry to hear your pooch has been unwell Terratoonie, My old girl is nearly 13 and she is still very sprightly although her teeth are starting to go now and she has various lumps and bumps..........Its heart wrenching when they are ill because they cannot tell you how they feel.....My last Jack Russel I had to have put to sleep, at 15 she had liver trouble and although the vet said there was treatment the practice nurse told me on the quiet, that it rarely worked, and I didn't want to put her through all that, if no result for her.
