Female Blackbird - is that correct?

Its a fledgling Oddbillie.Male and female look similar at this stage,and although the tail feathers look dark they lose these as they moult into their final colours.,next year.

Not sure about that! I've proabably deleted as many as I've kept so far and spent ages ut the back tonight - Ali kept popping her head out and smirking! Like a child with his new toy I guess! Great camera though and I can't wait to really get to grips with the different settings.

I really wanted to say a big thank you for your help in choosing this product. I look at your shots with envy and if I can get halfway to anything like them, I'll be a happy man.

I need to work out the right setting for clear shots of the birds when they are flapping wings etc but happy so far.

Gonna look for tripod later on ebay!!

So many to choose from Oldbillie doesnt really matter too much about the technology so long as lens is brilliant .Leica lens been used on some of the most expensive cameras so if cant get good shot then cant blame the camera ! Which is what I used to do lol

You have 12x zoom which should be good enough for most shots never used the digital zoom which gets even closer but strongly compromises on pic quality.

Small table tripods not expensive and can be folded to hand hold as well to steady shot.

Obviously birds in flight need fast shutter speed so a sunny day helps tomorrow should be brighter.

Sometimes a crystal clear shot from distance can be cropped better than a zoomed image and as for deleting things Omg sure we all been there and if submitted All my pics the rejects would far out weigh the decent stuff.Glad you re happy with the choice and look forward to seeing your ever improving results.

Out of curiosity, what shutter speed do you use for the 'flight & flaping' shots? I've tried a couple and am getting there slowly.

I noticed the crop is sometimes better than the zoom as well.

Great satisfaction though when a shot comes off. I was stood under the conifers for half hour tonight just to get about 6 decent pics but they were worth the wait!

Oh gosh Ob have made several adjustments after placing on normal picture camera symbol setting.

Are you familiar with ISO settings ? The higher these settings the faster the shutter speeds BUT the lower the pic quality so set ours to 800 you will also see EZ settings which dictate pixel size more pixels give better quality but again slow camera response ..hope this is making some sense to you .

So eventually you will learn to compromise speed and picture quality some of the trickiest photos to take are action shots if you get time please check out Tasteyg s hummingbirds absolutely stunning .

My advice would be to learn your camera controls with close ups etc before attempting these ..but by all means practise as your not going to be wasting rolls of film are you ?

Say BB, how do I find Tasteyg's pics? I've tried tagging hummingbird and plural but the photo's that come up do not belong to TG - any of them....

Is there a way to find a member on here or am I missing the obvious....!!!
