Unidentified gift!

It looks like an alpine strawberry

It doesn't bear fruit tho! It has small red flowers(Im told) on long thin stalks, a bit like London's pride, I think.
The leaves are silvery , pleated & downy

Could be a potentilla, maybe? Although, not sure if I've seen any with flowers on stalks. Or a type of Helichrysum?

Forget this, can't delete, just "stabbing in the dark" right now. :-)

Hi! Thought you'd run away! I haven't a clue, but that's my usual state!

I can "see" this one in flower, but the name escapes me! :-(

I have a crystal ball somewhere, if that helps!!

Silvery pleated downy leaves - sounds like Cinquefoil ( Potentilla ) like David said. They usually have yellow flowers though. Well the wild ones do anyway. But they are not like London Pride - - don't know sorry. If it flowers maybe you could put a pic then.

I haven't seen the flowers, Hywel, just going on what I was told!
