Our lovely bench

Our lovely bench

My pride and joy. BUT made of reclaimed teak which is going a bit black in our lovely UK weather. Anyone know what to do?

WOW! I love this bench! You can buy teak oil from any hardware store, instructions of what to do should be on the tin.

What a fabulous spot! I'd go with Michaella's suggestion.

Thanks for these! So it looks as though teak oil might reverse the blackening? When we got it it seemed to have a waxy finish that made raindrops roll off, perhaps that was a teak oil. I'll check out B&Q or somewhere.

Teak oil applied with a paint brush 1-2 a year will preserve them I really let it soak in and and I do the underneath. I give mine a scrub before I do it. Teak will weather/darken over the years part of its charm. My garden furniture is over 30 years old and is as good as new. I have never stood mine on grass or soil which I think protects the feet over the years. This picture just needs a glass of wine and a book to be perfect.
Ps Stand seat on newspaper as teak oil can stain patios, after oiling don't let anyone sit on it for a couple of days! enjoy.
