Good idea I'll do that...thanks Irish. I let too many plants die off during the winter months so I'm going to put them in the spare room this year!!

Good idea Fluff.....they should survive the winter that way !

I had a Fuchsia with golden leaves a few years ago but it didn't survive the winter on my balcony. I have no place in the flat for overwintering plants. If they can't survive in the most sheltered corner of the balcony I'm afraid there's nothing I can do about it.
You really need to keep them very cool otherwise they will continue to grow & get very lanky with the little light they get during the winter. I've managed to keep a couple of standard Fuchsias alive for several winters out on the balcony all winter in the sheltered corner. They have stems a metre high but have survived. They were even making a few flowers this year at the time the daffs were flowering!
One pot is underplanted with mini daffs & they flower every year.
