And now - the 75 Lavendula Hidcote & Lavendula Rosea have had their haircut ready to rejuvenate. The Old English Roses continue to flourish, proudly showing their magnificent blooms and cast their intoxicating scent for all to enjoy.

I like the crazy paving... some people think it's old fashioned, but looks good to me... :o)

Fits in with the property as it is an old property. Had to be sympathetic to not only the old rectory but the conservation area surrounding. The border before, as you have seen in it's development, had an original crazy york stone path leading up to it. The Old Rectory was built in 1876 and therefore the patio had to be sympathetic to the original build of the house. Contemporary slabs with uniform edges would have been completely unacceptable for this property. Everything has to be right to complete the circle . It all has to be sympathetic to it's surroundings. Old buildings, old style, new buildings different style. Sympathetic, always to the surroundings. Ultimate importance.
Thank you for your comment though. Hope you understand our response.

Ustwo - thanks for your comment. Actually another GOY member and I have talked about setting up the HAGS club - the House and Garden Swap club. We think it would be delightful to have a break and take off to someone else's home and garden for a while - just joking around! But you're right - the grass is always greener and there's so much I see on GOY I would love to grow but simply can't. We'll just have to be happy drooling over the photos instead!! I have really enjoyed seeing this job develop and seeing your hard work pay off so well. Keep it up and keep those photos coming.

Great job ! It looks fantastic in your summer season too. It looks like a whole new landscape after all the pruning. How cool is that, two different landscapes with no digging involved...lol

Yes, as I wrote above, I think the crazy paving looks good, even though some folk don't like it in any environment. I hope you didn't think I was saying otherwise... and I'm sure it fits in very well with the style of the old rectory.

HAGS sounds wonderful... Could you come and clear the clover from my back lawn please ..?..... and don't forget to chat to my budgie, "Crocus".... Lol. :o
