Coconut palms are very strong, flexible trees withstanding hurricane winds very well.

pity its to cold here for them. the wind here is awesome in winter.

Yes, they are extremely cold sensitive trees.

I can see by the leaves its blustery there.

It was 90ºF/32ºC and very humid with the trade winds blowing.

Does the winds ever burn the palms and plants.

Never...Hawai'i has a humid tropical climate.

I wish I could say that about inland San Diego's climate...I have problems every year with burned plants from hot, dry weather in fall, winter (the Santa Ana winds are very hot and extremely dry, with humidity levels going down to only 6% or lower at times)

I would hate to live where it was dry it would affect my breathing, so goodness knows what your plants look like down at 6%

When we get the very low humidities during a Santa Ana it affects everything. Your eyes, skin, hair, nose become so dry...it's indescribable. The Los Angeles ares is even worse.

I can imagine Andy no that would not be for me, how can you tolorate it.

Luckily, the Santa Ana conditions only last a couple of days. However, SOSA's (Sort of a Santa Ana can last for a week or more)

At least then you don't have it all the time like for a season, so not so bad.

Actually from late Sept - April is considered Santa Ana Wind season (even though it doesn't happen all the time). Late tonight another moderate Santa Ana is setting up throughout southern Cal.

It hasn't been too bad at all. The humidity is around 40% which is pretty high for a Santa Ana...also not much wind. It's turning out to be a weak Santa Ana...we're just getting the warm weather.

You lucky man you getting warm weather, here we are all trying to remember what its like lol.

Although, the middle of next week we may start having some rainy or showery weather, which we need at this point. We haven't had any real rain since Jan 5th.

Its raining here now as its our winter until March we are in February at present but it is still cold. The plants will love that rain then, over here we are known to moan about the weather, when hot and dry they want cold or rain, when cold or rain they want heat and sun lol

It was very warm today...many areas up to 83ºF/28ºC.

When the rain comes later next week there will be lots of complaining here...even though we need the rain again.
