Bog garden

Bog garden (Gunnera magellanica (Gunnera))

Bog garden edges with old timbers found in a skip..that's a gunnera in the middle, got badly caught by the frost this February and think that it will never get huge as it's roots are restricted - I hope! Bought in a moment of madness.....

Gunnera magellanica will never get huge - it's a midget, only a few inches tall

Hi Sanbaz! It's just like a puddle really - there is a liner in the bottom of the bog but it has holes. The plants are through the holes rooted in the ground. So when we have lots of rain the bog is full and when we don't it dries up completely! This year had my own frog spawn in it (we imported some last year), so was quite worried for the tadpoles earlier in the year when it was dry - but the garden now has frogs a-plenty -so they obviously coped!
