I have seen a plant like that at Nottcutts Garden Centre in Peterborough. They have a very good selection of indoor plants and unusual ones too.

Thank you Michaella. I must say, that I like the most unusual plants.

You are welcome!

Lovely colours and markings in this begonia. I bought my ones online from www.stbegonias.com, Southport, Merseyside, who grow to order. Have a look here, if al else fails.

I looked at the website you mentioned, where they have some really lovely plants offered for sale. Though sadly, no Begonia Chlorostica... Thank you David.

I still have not been able to obtain this plant, but it might turn up one day

Have you tried the begonia stock specialists on net
23 Nov, 2009
I have tried, but I am unsuccessful in all my efforts. The plant is available in the States.

Yes but not here unforunately as I have scoured the net for you when you loaded, could you not order from the States, I have asked my sister to look out for you as she is very personally friendly with the owner of Russels garden Centre here where I live. Or even go to a garden centre and ask for them to order for you as some will do this.

Thank you for your help Morgana. I have asked at my garden centres and thay have not been much help. Ordering from the States is awkward because they have certain rules about sending plants to this country. But thanks again.

I will still look out for you.

It reminds me of the one my husband grew..he called it an Angel Wing begonia..my daughter has it now..
5 Jan, 2010
Yes it is part of the Angel wing Begonia clan. But It is difficult to obtain.
6 Jan, 2010
He grew it for years..it climbed all the way over our dining room table and clung to the swag lamp over the table..it bloomed like mad..I am not sure what happened but it never would come back for me after he passed. My daughter seems to be having some luck with it...

Was it an Angel wing begonia? They can grow with incredible vigour, putting out large leaves and flowers that hang like bunches of grapes.

lol...yes it was...and it was very nice..

They are what I would discribe as Gothic in appearance.

A magical plant..it was his favorite thing that he grew next to his Monstera ..the Gardenia's blooming when I first visited were what hooked me when I first met him though.... and of course Vivaldi's 4 season's playing..
8 Jan, 2010
Love Vivaldi, and Gardina. I have one plant covered in buds at the moment, which I have just had to bring indoors because of the the freezing weather.
9 Jan, 2010
Oh good, so glad you have it in a safe place now....we had trouble with spider mites on the Gardenias...he showered them regularly..but they still managed to be ruined by them eventually...I have not tried any again. Do you have tips on how to keep them blooming and growing successfully?
9 Jan, 2010
I just water them with rain water, and feed once a fortnight from April till the end of September. The flowers are so elegant, and their fragrance wonderful.
9 Jan, 2010
Do you keep them in pots then? and are they inside or out?
9 Jan, 2010
I kept it indoors when I first got the plant and then it went outside during the summer. I have a good sheltered spot that is excellent for tender potted plants. So from summer till this freezing week it stayed, and now it is indoors again till this cold snap ceases. Is it wintry your way?
10 Jan, 2010
~ have you tried John Rockliffe at Rhodes and Rockliffe Nazeing~ l got Barbara Parker from him and he does mail order~RRBegonias@aol.com
10 Jan, 2010
It is still a bit cool here, we had a very cold freezing spell a few weeks ago..but it is warming up again nicely ..still too early to put out any tender babies..
10 Jan, 2010
Thank you Arlene I will take a look and let you know the outcome. Catfinch We had snow and biteing winds today. I think we are getting a little fed up with it all. What we need is a breath of spring air.
