Erodium manescavi

Erodium manescavi (Erodium manescavii)

You can tell that this lovely plant is related to hardy geraniums, can't you - maybe that's why I love it!

It sounds Perfect Spritz X

I'm hoping that it behaves like a geranium and produces seed...the heads are similar, so you never know!

Love ths plant, must look out for it for my shady raised bed, does it spread Spritz?.....

18 Aug, 2009

The plant gets bigger, but I think it's a 'gentle' spread, rather than rampant! I was told it should seed itself, too, which is why I shall be trying to get the seeds before it does!!! lol.

Yes husband used to collect Erodiums, and I collected hardy Geraniums, Violas, Euphorbias, Hostas, thyme sempervivum, have just reinstated my Hosta bed much to the annoyance of Husband, cleared one border, taken out pond, moved shed up the garden, moved compost heap to behind shed..........all today!!!

You must be exhausted....

There is a large clump of this growing on the rock garden at Kew. Its been flowering since late spring. Its lovely plant.

That's nice to know - thanks, Rbtkew. It hasn't produced any viable seeds yet, though. I check each 'pod'.
