Purple spires/Blazing Star/Gayfeather - Liatris spicata

Just after I took this, I saw that there was a stem of Helianthus Tuberosus lying over them, went to remove it to take a better photo, and promptly slipped into the edge of the bed and squashed the lot!! Almost broke 3 fingers on my RIGHT hand this time...

Oh, those unfortunate mishaps. Glad your other fingers survived. :-) I'm growing this as well, though I do have to dig it up, bring it in, and give it a cold treatment in the refridgerator. It would live out there, but ne'er a bloom, too late a start in our season.

BE CAREFUL. I fell not long ago, but out of the bed, onto the driveway, but only beat myself up, not the flowers, which is what I prefer. lol
