How long have you had that tree fern Skillen? It looks very healthy! I love them but daren't plant one...now I've seen yours.....mmmmm

I'd had it for about 3 years Karen. Never bothered to protect it until last year, I packed the crown with leaves and covered it over with fleece. In the spring i was horrified to see that it turned into a putrid mush! If you look at my questions you'll see a picture of it, I was really upset. I am definately going to get another one next spring as i think i had just packed the crown too tightly with the leaves and no air was getting into the crown. I would get one if i was you even if you keep it in the pot the first year and then in your glasshouse over winter. You are obviously a lot more careful with plants than me!

Ohk I don't know about that SKillen, but I would like one! I think I will give one a go...just a baby one and pack it with straw in the winter...as you say, it could go in the greenhouse.
