I think it is a small Heath (Coenonympha pamphilus) Spritz but totally sure. maybe Bonkers can help.

Well spotted Toto..think this the female as male has stronger orange marking around wing with eye mark.

Were the wings orange on top. Apparently it is quite rare to see the upper surface of the wings as they nearly always have them folded, as in your pic when they are at rest.

No - a pale browny-beige, I think, but with a wing spot - 'eye mark'??

Another gardener on another site, had one like this on his door step stayed there all day he lives in Suffolk, he asked for an id so I found one that looked just like it, its was from africa destroys trees when he looked the info of it same pattern wavy line across its body and colour look on id of forign ones you will find it there
