I moved this to the hot border last year - and it survived!

It's more muted than that outrageously loud orange-and-yellow one, isn't it!

That's a beauty. Is it on it's own or do you have a clump of them?

When I joined the RHS three years ago, I was given a freeby box of assorted bulbs and corms. I got 12 Gladioli, and planted them together. When they flowered, the colours were: some muted, some startling, but all different! So I moved the very bright ones over to the hot border last year - yes, they are together, in a clump.
Sadly, the beautiful pale mauve and deeper purple ones left in the original place didn't flower the second year. :-((

What a shame

I think I might get some in those colours, if I can. At least I know they are available - somewhere!

What a good freebie to get. Pity about the purple-y ones though. I like to see them all in a clump rather than straight lines.

Oh, so do I! Straight lines and my garden just don't mix!

Mine are just about to flower, at long last.will post in a few days.
Spritz is it worth joining the RHS?
29 Aug, 2009
Well, I think so - reasons?
1. Support for their research,
2. You get into the RHS Gardens free (and a selection of others, too!)
3. A good monthly magazine & sheet with plant offers, some unusual,
4. Advice if you need it on plant diseases or anything,
5. Advance notice of RHS Shows - and lower ticket prices.
6. Members' section on the 'Plantfinder' and 'Selector'
So that's why!

6 good reasons then.......thanks.
