To right Suey, they do certainly seem to have Triffid tendances!
Oh yes there is plenty for me to do, and unfortunately it is for me as no other member of the household seems to want to join in the 'fun'.
Around and beyond the Goat Willow is very wet ground with a mass of Reed Grass & Bog Myrtle roots. Today I started to cut a channel to drain it down so hopefully, with alot of strimming (and stone pulling) I will be able to get the mower on it in a couple of years time and to have a few shrubs here and there. I've also just planted a wee Beech sappling along side the willow as tree this is to go.

Sounds like you're really getting stuck into it - what we would call 'hard yakka'!

After a border fork and a mattock failed to get all the bramble roots out, a lady suggested I inject a strong dilution of Round Up into the stalks at the leaf Y with a large veterinary needle. Loathe as I am to use chemicals, I did. Broke a needle but did reduce the quantity of blackberries in my garden.
