Bird-bath garden after a good rain.

Just a photo of my bird-bath flowerbed after a little rain that we had today. The plants looked very vibrant after about 3/4 of an inch of rainfall. This area is the most heavily amended organic bed in my yard and receives daily tweaking, weeding and TLC. The birds, butterfly's, and bees just love the small area! Before I planted anything in this area, I prepared the soil with the mother-load of organics. Compost, zeolite, green-sand, lava-sand, expanded shale, worm castings, shredded coconut husks, corn gluten-meal, dry molasses, dried seaweed, and a splash of fish emulsion..
Needless to say, all of the plants in this area are very happy campers even though I'm constantly adding new plants to bare areas. {grin}
I'm after a "solid foliage" look in this area and the only way to do that is to have very rich soil that can support many plants packed into a small area. I just love it!

Your soil sounds like a "gardening recipe" N2!

It's looking great - the beautiful foliage of those caladiums certainly add impact.
