Thanks Terra,
It does seem things were not right for them, will try again next spring.
Would it help these if I re-pot these with a sandy mix or/and Pirlite around a plug or is it not a good time to disturb them?
Will over-winter under glass too and plant out in the spring.

I would be tempted to re-pot them individually... with good drainage, and maybe experiment by treating some differently to others and discover which plants thrive the best...

Sounds good Terra, am I right in thinking its to late in the year for a liquid feed?

Yes, you are. That would have the effect of lots of 'soft' growth, making the plants more susceptible to frost damage!

Thanks Spritz, I thought it was but I did'nt know why, that's interesting. Its always useful to know the 'why's and wherefore's' thanks.

Yes, these are Dianthus...
..maybe your aubrieta seedlings needed more drainage and a soil more alkaline ?
