Can You See Her

Can You See Her

Out in the park in the lush taiga turning into autumn, we came across a foraging moose. My friend was stumped why I stopped for a moose pic, there are plenty, but the place was more important.

:-) It is hard for me to draw out the color on a wet day like this, but the setting was so still and perfect. Next shot has helped I see. :-)

OHHH MOOSE. Have become very overpopulated here in my province, and is responsible for many accidents on the highways.
But I'm sure they don't like the accidents anymore than we do!
Great pic.

They are everywhere here as well and the main animal accident on the roads. It is hunting season right now and the herd is being thinned. I had one take out the whole front of my car and run off. They really are enormous things.

Amazing shot, and the moose adds interest...although I really like the foggy top of the pic too. Are they low-hanging clouds, or a fog rolling in?

Low clouds. I was up early, my fellow campers still asleep, so I went walking. Once I returned and they got up, it began raining and never stopped, for days. The clouds are real close up in these mountains.

This was a camping trip? Lovely place to go!

Really a great spot. There are only three reservable campgrounds in the preserve. All the rest you have to take a bear class and reserve the section you'd like to hike and must hike, no campoing allowed in sight of the road. There are only so many people allowed in each section at a time. A tremendous place.

Gorgeous GT...love it..I have not seen a moose in person yet..have been where they live in Banff, Canada area and Spokane but keep missing them..Weeds does see them in Spokane in her backyard practically..but I have not even seen them there..lol..seen their droppings!

Thanks again. :-) They are elusive. When I lived in Idaho they were around but never seen, not like deer or elk. Here they are everywhere, but this setting was definately not everywhere. They are enormous and very dangerous, so big the first instinct is to kick you, killing blow.

Yes I know that about Moose..people see them in a domestic setting and have been killed by walking up to them..too bad for the people and the Moose, as the animal is often blamed for the persons ignorance.
Same type of thing going on in Banff..all over the park are signs that say..if you see a Grizzly stay in your car...when we saw ours both times we were inside..the one by the road..was off in the bush just a short distance, maybe 100 ft....I had my window cracked a bit to try to get a picture..I did get a blurry shot of it rattling berry bushes...people pulled over, got out of their cars and came over to the bush side of our van and almost stood in my view to try to get a shot..they asked if it charged would we let them in...well it did charge..and those people ran off quickly. They were lucky as the bear charged at them and then turned and took off into the bush..it was maddening and I almost told them no I would not, that they were being stupid, to get back in their cars..but before I could, he charged...the sunlight sparked off his fur at the nape of his the neck when he shook it..oh my! It looked ancient...and raw... I am glad I did not have to see him attack and kill them!
I love Bear symbolism..it is a protective spirit symbol..as.I am sure you know GT..It is the one I relate to most often...but also the Deer and the Eagle and the Raven...

People get crazy in parks, when I worked in Denali they would ask when the animals are released for viewing!

The grizzly does have a very immense power to him. A real amazing thing to see every time. Nice to hear you have him on your side. :-) I share the raven with you, also fox, spider and moose. No quiet trickster looking into the dark side of the moon here.....lol....:-)
