I love these plants :))))

Yours looks really good there Andrew, is it quite a mature plant ?
Do you leave it out through winter ?
Seeing yours makes me want one even more but i can't be doing with lifting it every winter, i'd want to leave it in the ground throughout.

Louise - this plant is four years old now. I lift it every autumn before the first frost, pot it up and it stays indoors all winter. In about April, I cut it to the ground, harden it off and plant it out again in mid May. It is in full sun so the colour is at its darkest

Lovely rich colour and beautiful 'flowers'.

Andrew, do you use a bigger pot each year ?
I'm thinking that the roots are going to develop more each time you repot.
Also, do you keep it in a heated greenhouse or did you mean a conservatory ?

Looks great Andrew, I admire your dedication - I'm with Louise, too much trouble having to lift every year.

Louise - so far, I've managed to get it in the same size pot each year although it might need a bigger one soon. It stands inside the patio doors in my living room and gets watered once a week during its spell indoors

Thanks Louise that answers my question, have recently bought this plant and wanted to know how to overwinter it.....

Thanks Andrew, only just seen this. It's looking great and in the perfect place. I'll have another go at overwintering this year, maybe 3rd time lucky!
DD2 and Louise, I keep mine in pots so I can bring them in overwinter, albeit unsuccessfully so far!

Lily do they not overwinter when bought in? I should hate to lose mine, it is so lovely.

Well Andrew can do it Dd so I shall have another try this winter although I won't be allowed to have it in the living room! I don't know why mine died off slowly indoors last year, it couldn't have been from cold but they are so lovely it's worth another try. I have 4 large ones (all looking very bedragggled today in the pouring rain) but I don't think I'll be able to sneak them all indoors! :o((
