Hi Tasteyg...this is a larva of the Tussock Moth... the old wives tale about not disturbing a fuzzy caterpiller is because some of them are toxic...I'm sure there's plenty about them on Wiki. I think they are beautiful creatures...but anything which tried to eat it would be very sick, or could die. In it's many guises it exists just about everywhere.
