It's amazing how tough Agave species are...they will grow from the coast to the extremely hot inland areas here. I bet it's the same there.

You are right Delonix, I've seen agaves from south to north, and also up in the hills.
My observation is that they grow such big and strong with those long spikes, where they are growing wild.
Planted in gardens they seem to stop growing and don't bloom very often.
Do you have any explanations for this behavior?

Based on my observation...I think when it is planted in a garden, people thin them out, or they would take over a the whole yard or garden.
Here they literally grow wild by the millions...and develope huge stands...which have several flower spikes.
