Hi all you good people who commented on this photo. Growing from seed is, of course, usually an adventure as many things don't come true. In this case I bought a consignment of ten Acer Japonica pre-germinated seeds from Andrew Norfield Trees and Seeds, Lower Meend, St Briavels, Glos GL15 6RW, whom I first met at a Chelsea Flower Show about 15 years ago. One of the seeds died and the other nine I grew on and planted around the garden. Murphy's Law, the ones in the best position only had moderately autumn good colour while this one which goes this fiery blazing red I planted in an out-of-the-way place at the bottom of the garden! Since then I have taken seed from it and grown several more. Any one who'd like some seed and has the patience to wait 6 or 7 years can get it from me -- just send me a private message with your phone number and I'll phone you back for your address.

Hi Bornagain and Ginellie, I am perplexed by your reference to GOYpedia. Did you pick up this word from something I wrote? I may be okay with gardening but I am finding it quite difficult to make this GoY site work for me; for example I thought I'd captioned all my pics, but only two came out with the proper captions on them! We're all learning all the time.

Jim, 'nominate for Goypedia' is under 'I like this picture' it appeared mysteriously and I for one don't know what happens if I click on it so I'm not going to try:-) I once clicked on 'flag this photo' thinking it was something good:-( I still can't navigate the site properly, total technophobe, I even had to ask what the sideways smiley face was, thinking it a new type of punctuation mark! :-)
