Some of the many plants in my front yard. The yellow plant is Justica aurea - Yellow Jacobinia. Photo taken Oct. 2, 2009.

It's pretty commonly available here...however, I've had this plant in a pot since 1997 and finally put it into the ground about a month ago...this is the reason why the leaves are so sparse.

Have seen the justicia betonica and the brandegeeana here - but not the aurea. I'm sure to find it one day. Yours is certainly flowering well despite the move.

Justicia betanica and Justicia brandegeana are very common plants here also. I pulled my Justicia betonica out last year...it was too stragely and wild.
Justicia aurea is a tough plant. I have several plants from cuttings from this mother plant.

Not a big fan of the betonica - do prefer the brandegeeana over it. Haven't had a brandegeeana for quite a while now - think I'll have to add it to the list as well!

I do like Justicia betonica flower bacts...with that hint of lavender, however, the plant overall is not that attractive.
I haven't had a Justicia brandegeana since 1985..however, they are so commonly grown in California...it wouldn't be difficult to get a cutting from someone.

I really love this showy plant - it's been on my list for a while now.
