Here's a photo of that caladium from earlier this year. There's another photo to follow that shows it as it matures even more.

Thanks Clarice - I just love caladiums and mine are just rising from their dormant stage at the moment, so they're popping up all over the place.

There's that wonderful plant again. I grow persicaria Painter's Palette which is hardy - but not as nice as this plant!

Usernut - yes caladiums are regarded as tropical plants. They like warmth and humidity, with a minimum summer temperature of 23 degreesC and a minimum winter temperature of 12 degreesC. They need warm, moist soil to grow - planting in cool soil means slow growth and even tuber rot. We grow ours outdoors in dappled shade - they don't like full sun.
In cooler climates they'd probably be more suitable for indoors or a greenhouse - they are frost sensitive.
