Yes they prefer some shade.Avoid buying dry packaged corms from from stores and garden ctrs as they take years to settle if at all, ( not to be confused with the large flowerd forms that are not realy hardy) Better to buy potted plants from a nursery or seed if you can obtain it, that is fresh. C Hederifolium for autumn .C Coum for winter .C Repandum for spring.
To answer your other question plant on the table is an annual Nemesia 'Blue Lagoon'
