I took a leaf out of Ray's book and bought some monkey nuts in the shells. Caught my squirrel burying one in the lawn yesterday, I dont think it will grow somehow, lol

Well to be honest, first of all he stuffed his little face as he sat on the bird feeder, must have thought he'd hide one for later - as if he'll remember where it is, ha ha

i think they do actually remember dawn, so i was told, great isnt it :o) hope your having a good day :o)

Yes they remember they hide the nuts for winter and go back in winter to get their stash.
Here at the schools they take the children to combe abbey park, ask them to hide a nut in the wood, they take them on a tour of the wild life and gardens for about 30 minutes then return to the wood and ask them to go and get their nut to see if they remember after 30 minute.
Showing the children what the squirrel does through the summer, not many children remember, they tell them if they did nt remember and they were a squirrel they would of starved.

They are rascals Sandra but very adorable ones, you have to admire their persistance and cunning!

My daughter has squirrels in her garden and her poor husband spends most of his time digging up the nuts they bury in his lawn. I have visions of oak trees springing up everywhere...lol!

Yes they will steel it all, I have bought a squirrel proof nut holder, it just get s the nuts with poking it hand through and nicks the nuts, takes handfuls of the niger seed too, even though I leave nuts in a pot on the ground beneath the feed station for it.
