DELOCIOUS FLOWER they do not do well here unless you send them to the cooler tablelands for a winter holiday each year to get a cold chill . iI stick to Dendrobiums they just get tied to trees , they love growing on Plumeria where get full winter sun when those trees loose their leaves.and they like to be neglected all winter, no watering.

Pitta:
Cattleya orchids are very tropical in origin and really don't like any cold. You may be thinking of Cymbidium or Epidendrum orchids which like a little cool period in the winter.
Dendrobiums along witht many other genera of orchids
are grown here. Unfortunately, I don't have many ochids...palms are my favorite trees.
