Hate to show my ignorance but what family is it? the fruit not the nest lol never seen it in the UK

Persimmons are in the Ebenaceae – Ebony family.

The inner bark and unripe fruit are sometimes used in Herbal medicine to treat fevers, diarrhea, and hemorrhage. The ripe fruits are eaten (by people and wildlife). But one must wait for it to get fully ripe or else the taste is harsh and astringent!

Bjs, they sell these in the UK, I buy them all the time, Tesco or any small or large supermaket sell them, they are usually very juicy and very sweet. Yum!

Thank you Michaella i will look out for them although if they are to sweet they will not suit me

Bjs...I am told they do not sweeten if they are not touched by a frost before they are harvested! So maybe you can find some that are a bit tart yet.
