Pitta:
Do you notice different colors in spring and summer?
I've always noticed on all Acalypha species that the
leaves are alway highly variegated. However, I've been
reading comments from a few GoY people (who can
grow Acalypha outside) that the colors are different in fall,
spring and summer.

I grow everything outside . A s we do not have Autumn in the tropics [ we have 2 seasons wet summer and dry winter ]The colour changes we love especially with Croton and Acalypha and most other shrubs the colour changes are welcome.

Pitta:
I wonder if the wet season verses the dry season changes the leaf color? Here in San Diego the color stays the same all year. We don't have "Fall" either...we have "Santa Ana Wind" season which is in "Fall" and Winter...which can bring us very hot and dry weather....it also overlaps our wet season...I know it's an oxymoron. It's so difficult to explain if one doesn't live here. : > )

I WONDER WHY YOURS DON'T CHANGE WITH THE SEASONS ,ALL PLANTS HERE CHANGE IN SOME WAY FROM WET TO DRY SEASON.

Pitta:
It could be because our climate is so dry...the normal
rainfall here is only about 22 cm a year...and we have
been in a horrible drought and haven't had our normal
rainfall for 7 or 8 years.
I'm hoping this year we will receive a lot of rain so our
water restrictions will be lifted. It's quite possible since
it's an El NiƱo year.
