Thanks!

Euphorbia tirucalli 'firesticks' is located to the right.

Yes I'd noticed that rather hairy looking fella on the right - from a distance he could be mistaken for a grevillea.

Bernieh:

It's actually not hairy...it may look so...because this
photo is not so clear.

Grevillea species grow wild here...especially G. robusta - Silk Oak, however, none in this pic. : > )

A fine specimen of Aloe, and I did wonder what the 'bottlebrush' was.

Rbtkew:

There's no bottlebrush in this photo. : > )

Did you mean the Aloe?

Huge firesticks!..4' is my best, and that's taken 7-8 years. Frost and people picking the leader has been a setback over time. Still 4' makes a nice look.

That's small. They grow huge here. I had the green form which I just cut back to the trunk. It was 15' tall. I'm going to have to cut the plant down it wasn't meant to be planted in the spot where it's growing.

Not for Firesticks in the bay area 4' is a biggie. I know the green is a big shrub to very small tree even in the bay area's frost free climates. Firesticks is naturally compact..but in soucal seems to grow one tall leader. I guess Firesticks has now been around long enough down south to be a small tree- someplace.

I just gave my Firesticks away. It needed to be put into the ground.

I've seen some Firsticks Euphorbia as tall as 25', here in San Diego. I once (on a garden tour in Mission Hills) saw an 85 year old E. tirucalii. It was gigantic...had a trunk that was at least 3' in diameter.
