I finally got a photo of some of the many Green Conure Parrots that live in San Diego, CA. They are not native...however, have naturalized here in many areas...along with other species of parrots. Photo taken Nov. 3, 2009 just before sunset.

Andy,
Are they noisy when the sunset begins?
Parrots tend to make a feast .. i love to listen them "talking" to each other.

Aleyna:
I love parrots, however, I don't want them nesting anywhere
near where I live...because they are so very noisy. We used
to have Mexican Red tail parrots living in the neighborhood
...and they used to hang out in my Jacaranda tree and the
very large eucalyptus trees -- which were cut down last year.
These Green Conure parrots fly over the house every evening...I
hear them squawking. Sometimes they land in my 80 foot / 24
meters tall Norfolk Island tree or the power lines.

LOL! I forgot to answer your question. Yes, I
usually hear them in the late afternoon or early
evening just before sunset. : > )

Colour on these would provide great camouflage - except for those orange beaks!

They also have orange on the sides of their face. Unfortunately, this pic isn't that clear because of my camera's bad zoom lens.

10 species of parrot are established in soucal. At least three in the bay area. That includes birds more parakeet looking. Nice article on the net..maybe the LA Times?

The feral parrot population has exploded in the last 20 years in most of Southern California. They are causing so many problems especially in the beach areas. They're so noisy.
There's a flock of (about 30 -40) parrots which fly over my house every evening.
There's some discussion that some of these parrots actually may be native to San Diego.
