These are beautiful white my favourite too. colchicums, no label warning on them I looked these up they are deadly poisonous to animals, squirrels never go near to them and you should wear gloves when planting.

Hi Louise - I think they are still flowering because I put the bulbs in so late (had bought them in August at Southport Flower Show, and only stuck them in the ground in mid September). Think I've been also lucky by planting under the canopy of the Golden sedge, seems to have kept the worst of the rain off.
Yes they are hugely poisonous, resembling arsenic in effect and with no antidote; although have to admit I never bother with gloves, except when dealing with nettle and bramble).

What kind of earth did you plant them in did you mix anything when planting into the garden.

Hi Morgana, they are planted beneath the bigger apple tree in the garden I added a bit of fresh compost and a base of grit beneath the bulb itself (which I do for all bulbs that get planted) then just covered them round with the excavated soil.

oh thats a good tip robert, i've not heard of that, about the grit i mean,robert i've just seen the time 7mins past 12,i've been caught up in your brilliant pictures ,and lost track of time, but i've really enjoyed it ,goodnight lol
