Hornets Nest

What a brilliant work of art, did nt think you would have hornets there.

Thanks. I was really impressed with it. Long since abandoned. We can actually have years where the hornets become a problem. Our long fall this year, I noticed so many of these filling the leafless tree branches. I had them move into a mouse hole under a bed one year. It became a very large colony, five sentries guarded the entry which looked like a gravel runway! As I weeded they were all around, but never touched me, just zoomed off and then returned. It was a nice balance. I don't fear bee type things much.

I think their nests or gorgeous..sure do not want to mess with one though if there are any bees around them..!
A friend had one he brought in with the limb still attached and had shellacked it ....he also managed to find some dead bees to shellack to it as well...lol...it was one of his art pieces he had hung on his wall...

Thanks Cat and Rkalyan. I would have saved this one had it not been broken on the bottom. Such a work of art that wont get through the snow let alone the thaw! I'll be watching for them next year. This is just 20 ft from the garden, but I didn't see more hornets than normal.
