Panther:

I say this with much warmth. : > )
Norfolk Island Pines are beautiful trees...
however, they are super messy and drop
thier snake-type leaves and huge cones
with millions of seeds -- I know this because
I have an 80 foot / 25 meter tall tree in my
front yard. : > )

I am glad you've shared this Delonix, I appreciate it very much. Well if I do get one I shall leave it potted. Just yesterday afternoon I saw one growing in my girlfriend's garden and I was so amazed by how tall and big it grew, not that I liked it either. I very much prefer them small. Thanks again.

Panther:

It is amazing how tall they can grow...we have many
large 150 - 200 foot / 46 - 61 meter tall trees
throughout San Diego and many coastal areas
of California.

No I am not having any planted in my garden for sure, just the thought of the messy leaves and seeds has put me right off!!

Panther:

That's funny! I'm going to post the huge mess I have
in my front yard...you'll laugh to see how messy this
tree really is...although the leaves are good mulch.
However, I have to sweep the long rope-like leaves
every day from the sidewalk and walkway up to the house.

I still love the tree...just in someone else's garden or in a
park. : > )

Quiet bothersome it sounds to me. Yes I still like the tree but like you've said as long as it's in someone else's garden or park.

Panther:

They can be kept small for quite a while in a big pot...as long
as the roots don't grow into the ground.

I think the female trees are the messiest because of the large
cones and seeds. Also, there's the danger of large branches
crashing down to the ground because the cones are so heavy...
if there's too many on one branch it can cause damage. I speak
from experience.
