Loropetalum chinense f. rubrum 'Firedance'

yet another casualty last year, where have you got this growing? maybe I planted it in the wrong place :(

It's in a sunny (haha) area, near the house. I had to fleece it in the frosts last winter - and it survived, as did the other L. chinense which is against the house wall. That one is bigger and lost a few leaves at the end of its branches, though. I snipped them off, and it's looking fine now. I have the fleece ready! :-(((

Grindle - I've lost my loropetalum the last two winters. They are not very hardy so this year I'm taking no chances and it's indoors

I got away with mine under fleese last year too, do you remeber the blog i did about little tents i made... they worked very well actaully only one loss which was the Coprosma that i know you did warn me about Spritz.... i have a new one safely tucked up in the Greenhouse this year, but the Loropetalum will have the fleese again...

... i just had a look at the blog from last year i can't see anyway of re-publishing it without re-writing it, and considering it only has 8 comments it was'nt hugely popular, lol... no fire works i gues lol but happy for you to point it out.

Well Spritz ours grows by the Coprosma which also survives fleece ? you must have soft southern varieties wrapping plants up for winter whatever next ..Jane ll be asking the heating on soon ..

lol... i thought i would get away with the fleese last year Bonkers, against Spritz's advice.... but alass no.... i have learnt my lesson... you must have a more robust one than i had...

A thought - maybe what Ray has is a dandelion and a daisy - not a Coprosma and a Loropetalum at all!!!!!!!!

He he thought you d find it hard to believe Spritz or that I may be buying new each year .. oh well if that true then have lots of Coprosmas and Loropetalum.
