Hi Jacque, I had one of these in my last garden, 9ft tall and in autumn/winter, smothered in 2inch elongated hips. Quite a wonderful sight. Enjoy :-))

How about taking a pencil thin 9inch hardwood cutting and sticking it in a pot for the community garden ? :~)

It's not easy to judge size from a photo Jacque, but there looks to be one or two suitable stems there. It's worked for me in the past, in fact I have three rose cuttings in pots at the moment (and finger's crossed !). Take them about 9inches long and bury them 6inches deep, if not in a pot, then in the ground where they won't be disturbed. Put your spade into the soil, wiggle it back and forth to open a slit trench and if your soil isn't sandy like mine add an inch or two of sand to the bottom of the trench. Bury the cutting by two thirds and firm in. If you do several varieties don't forget to label them and then next autumn transplant the survivors to their new homes.:~)
