A Southern Magnolia which had some blooms still on the tree on Coronado Island, CA. Photo taken Dec. 17, 2009.

Yes, there's many species of Magnolia. This species is native to the Southern States of the U.S. where they
grow to be gigantic trees. I have one in my front yard which is about the same size but not as wide and full as
this specimen though...it is a very messy tree.

i love magnolias..we have many hardy species over here. they make a great display in the spring.
