It was sick when I saw this tree had been cut back to the stump! : > (
This was the largest tree I've ever seen in California...which usually starts blooming in January. It may have sustained a lot damage from the Dec 6th storm. The possible reason for it being cut back so drastically. I'll post a photo of this tree back at the end of Oct.

Why keep the stump, will it sprout new growth ???
Wouldn't it be better to plant a new specimen ?
I'm not surprised you were sickened by the sight, it's shocking.

It will grow back...it grows pretty fast, however, it will take quite a few years to get the very large size it used to be.

Delonix, it's nearly 7am here, so it must be 6 or 7 hours behind there .... why aren't you asleep in bed ? ;-)))

Mushybanna:
We change the clocks here in March - we spring forward an hour and fall back an hour in November. The only states in the U.S. that don't change their clocks are: Hawaii and Arizona. Us Californians have been trying to change it where we stay on Day Lightsaving Time all year...I hope it happens one day!
