HI Delonix,
This plant is called gravatá, I looked for the botanical name and found out is from bromeliad family.

Gravataí.... is a city close to Porto Alegre, and there is another in São Paulo or Minas Gerais, I'm not sure.
Talking to Fernando my friend from Botany Garden, he said it is from the same family as carrots ... :S... I couldnt believe it myself... funny huh?
So... I had to edit the photo cause it is not the Bromeliaceae Pinguim...
next time I'll talk to one of you both before post a wrong information...
shame on me!!!
