Pachystachys lutea - Golden Shrimp Plant, Lollipop Plant

Pachystachys lutea - Golden Shrimp Plant, Lollipop Plant (Pachystachys lutea - Golden Shrimp Plant, Lollipop Plant)

My Golden Shrimp plants' leaves were pretty much all eaten by snails. They can eat all the leaves off this plant in one or two nights. Oh, do I hate snails! I think the snail bait got them this time. : > )

Yes, snails and slugs are very active here in winter...as you can tell by my
Golden Shrimp plants which look like sticks. LOL! : > )

The plants in the front, which have a little more green are Crossandra plants which I moved from under the vine in the background. The snails and slugs got to those also.

Yes Sixpence hedgehogs do help, we have several that come every evening for food during their awake period such fun to watch. Do they have them in California?

As far as I know they need a permit, to own one, as they are illegal when reading on the net

Hedgehogs that visit my garden are wild animals Sixpence!

You asked had they got them in California, they have but are illegal to own one they need a permit so I read off the net. Yes I agree they are wild in your garden, as it is illegal to entrap one in your garden, I know the man who runs a hedgehog rescue, lives not to far away from me.

Sandra:

I've never used beer for trapping snails...it's too much work even though I know it's more environmentally friendly. : > )

Sixpence, Drc726 :

I''ve never seen a hedgehog here. We have quite a few cayotes in the urban areas...they would probably eat them...like they eat the cats.

Sixpence, Drc726 :

I've just read that hedehogs are illegal in California and it's basically impossible to receive a permit to own one...unless it's in a zoo.
