Yes, it's a bird - our native pukeko. A bit of a nuisance in the garden but luckily mine ii only an ornament.- good on you for spottingi it potty gardenrer

Ues, they are that colour - beautiful birds but not welcome as they will eat eveything in the garden but i have a friend who feeds them so they hang around her place and she loves them ...they are not normally in the city areas.
